Nelsons, North Andover, Massachusetts, has removed from the market a limited number of batches of its Spatone pur-Absorb iron supplement due to iron oxidation which might lead to discoloration of the product. The oxidation of the iron in the product poses no health issue to consumers. Nelsons has taken corrective action on lot numbers with the suffix: 428, 429, 430, 431, 432, 436, 437, 438 and 439. Although there is no health hazard if the product is consumed, the product has been removed from retail sale.
Oxidation of the iron in the product is limited to a few batches shipped by Nelsons between December 2011 and early January 2012. The issue has been corrected for all subsequent batches. Product manufactured earlier than 11/07/2011 or later than 11/16/2011 is not included in this corrective action.
Nelsons will gladly replace the product or give consumers with affected batches a full refund. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
