Unfortunately, having an upset tummy can often occur when away from home on holiday for a number of reasons. Normally it is due to:

overindulgence in food and alcohol

a change of diet

food poising gastroenteritis due to eating food or drinking water contaminated by bacteria, parasites or viruses.

Drink lots of fluid. Take small frequent sips of water or diluted fruit juice.

Rehydration drinks are ideal as they provide a great balance of salts, sugars and water to prevent dehydration. Sachets are available from most pharmacies.

Wash your hands thoroughly, especially after handling money or using the bathroom.

Drink bottled water and avoid ice in drinks.

Be careful what you eat at buffets and barbecues.

Do not buy food from a street vendor.
