Many people have been conditioned to hide their problems from other people. However, there is a fine line between “putting a brave face on” in spite of your troubles and hiding problems from the people who love you. It’s not that they are deliberately being deceptive; it’s more that they don’t want to appear weak in front of others. Sometimes, people put a brave face on for their loved ones because they don’t want to burden them with their problems.
Whilst they might be aware of hiding things from people, they are not usually aware that by doing so they are also hiding their problems from themselves. In fact, when someone constantly conceals their problems from others, not only do they become adept at burying their head in the sand, but they are also cutting themselves off from the help of others.
