Research* reported in the media this week has shown that in general women feel significantly higher levels of guilt than men. The Spanish study found that women are more likely to brood over forgetting a friend’s birthday, snapping at a friend for no reason and going back on promises to help people.
Middle-aged women tend to feel the most guilt about their actions, according to the study, by academics at the University of the Basque Country in Spain. Men aged 25 to 33 were the least sensitive with "comparatively low" feelings of guilt.
