Brits waste 6 years worrying

Help with your 2009 worries from Bach Original Flower Remedies™

A recent survey[1] shows the average Brit wastes two hours and fifteen minutes each day worrying about their problems. This figure is up 30 minutes on 2007 with the credit crunch, mounting debt and financial worries contributing to the rise. It means that over the course of a lifetime each person spends an average of six years and six months worrying with nothing to show from it.

Women spend more time worrying than men with the top worries being finances, unemployment, crime and relationships. This worrying is futile and unproductive. Luckily Bach Original Flower Remedies have compiled an action plan we can follow to ditch the time wasting worrying and put the saved time to more productive tasks.

1. Surround yourself with happy people

Harvard Medical School in the US has found that happiness is contagious[2]. Your chances of happiness increase by 60% when you are with a cheerful person. So make sure you spend lots of time with friends who are upbeat and happy and let their good mood rub off on you.

2. A problem shared…

It is a cliché but it is true. Talk to someone you trust about your worries. Whilst they may not have all the answers they can be objective and help you put your problems into perspective. You will feel better once you have got it all off your chest.

3. Go for a walk

Make sure you spend time outdoors as prolonged lack of sunshine can make us feel down in the dumps and fuel our worrying.

4. Get expert advice

If you have a specific financial problem speak to an expert who can give you bespoke advice. You may find the situation is not as dire as you thought but even if they agree with your analysis they will be able to help you formulate a plan going forwards.

5. Let nature give you a helping hand

When worry takes hold we all need a little emotional support. From the makers of Rescue Remedy®, Bach Original Flower Remedies are a system of 38 remedies which can help us rediscover the positive side of ourselves and lead emotionally healthy lives. They originate from the Bach Centre and are produced according to Dr Bach’s traditional methods, which date back over 75 years. Bach Original Flower Remedies are made from natural flower essences and are suitable for all the family.

Which of the 38 remedies can help cut down your worry time?

  • Mimulus can be helpful if you are worrying about something specific such asyour finances, job safety or a relationship.
  • Red Chestnut can help if your worries are focused on someone else. Maybe you are worried about your children’s financial situation or feel overly concerned for someone’s health.
  • White Chestnut helps control those repetitive unwanted worries, allowing you to switch off and focus on your daily tasks.

Bach Original Flower Remedies cost from around £5.99 and are available from Boots, Holland & Barrett and most independent chemist and health food stores. For more information, visit www.bachremedies.co.uk. Always read the label.
