The elderly

As many as one in four people over 60 are estimated to have low iron levels. As we get older, our capacity to absorb iron diminishes. This coupled with often a poorer appetite, can lead to less than ideal iron levels. A recent study found that elderly people with iron deficiency have much less strength in their hand and knee muscles and poorer physical performance than their peers without iron deficiency*.

Dr. Namanjeet Ahluwalia, associate professor of nutrition at the Penn State University, Pennsylvania, US, said that ‘women who are suffering what they believed to be the effects of aging, namely "being fatigued easily, breathlessness, attention problems, or frequent infections", should go to see their doctor and find out if rather than old age these complaints are related to under-nutrition, especially iron deficiency’.

OK, so most of us don't want to climb Mount Everest, but we do want to live life to the full and that means maintaining our optimum energy levels. Spatone replaces lost iron naturally, and because it is so gentle on the stomach constipation or stomach upsets are usually not experienced.
