Absorption rate of up to 40%
This paper demonstrated mean iron absorption of up to 40% in patients with low iron stores. The study concluded that “Spatone Iron-Plus provides iron in a highly available form”.

Patient compliance - lower levels of side effects
This paper concluded that “ Patient compliance with traditional iron supplementation is poor and a large number of patients stop their supplements because of gastrointestinal side-effects. In this study it was shown that Spatone Iron Plus (previous trading name of Spatone) did not cause these side-effects and helps to prevent iron deficiency in pregnancy”.

Effective against iron deficiency in pregnancy
This paper demonstrated the high absorption rate of the iron in Spatone in pregnant women with iron deficiency, concluding that “Spatone provides an alternative to the standard ferrous sulphate tablet for prevention of iron deficiency in pregnancy”.
