SIMPLE = SUCCESS THIS NEW YEAR

Be it taking up a new hobby, eating less or working out more we have all at some point made a New Year’s resolution. But research shows the vast majority of us have failed, somewhat miserably. The study[i] by the University of Scranton shows that only 8% of people are successful in achieving the resolutions they set in January. So how can we make sure we buck the trend and stick to ours this year?

5 rules of New Year’s resolutions:

1.   Keep it Simple

Many people use the New Year as an opportunity to make long lists of changes or attempting extreme makeovers. The average person has so many different priorities that they simply can’t cope with these overwhelming goals and give up before they even start. It is better to set small, attainable goals which you can hit at different points throughout the year.

If your resolution is feeling overwhelming, try some Bach Original Flower Essence Elm* to help you gain the perspective needed to simplify and streamline your resolution into a manageable goal.

2.   Be specific

Setting ambitious resolutions can be fun and inspiring, but the difficulty in achieving them means that your elation can quickly give way to frustration. That is why it is important to set specific, measurable targets. A resolution to ‘lose weight’ is not easy to follow but it is much easier to give up takeaways or biscuits for 6 weeks at a time.

If you need a helping hand to get you back on track with your diet and healthy living regime then try Bach™ Emotional Eating Kit. It is a set of three flower essences to help with emotional eating. You can create your own individual combination and adapt it to suit your changing moods. The essences are alcohol and artificial additive free and suitable for the whole family.

3.   Keep it front of mind

Charting your goals can be helpful to aid success. For some, making a clear to-do list is enough of a reminder but others need post it notes stuck around the house or a journal or diary to help motivation. There are also a number of websites and apps where you can set and track your progress.

If you are having a difficult day and are struggling to find motivation, try some RESCUE® Liquid melts to help when your day threatens to get on top of you and your resolutions.

4.   Share the gain

Try sharing your goals with your friends and family or via social networks like Facebook. A running mate or gym buddy tackling the spin class with you means you are more likely to stick to your resolution and your shared goal.

If you are hitting the gym or pounding the pavement it is important to focus on your iron intake as part of your training regime. Spatone® Apple# contains Spatone iron rich water sourced from the Welsh mountains of Snowdonia National Park – which can help top up your iron levels whilst causing fewer of the unpleasant side effects often experienced with conventional iron supplements[ii].The additional Vitamin C in Spatone Apple can help increase iron absorption to help ensure sufficient dietary intake of iron for active people.

5.   Believe in yourself

This is the clincher. If you don’t think you can do it then, simply put, you won’t. Make a resolution you actually believe you have a chance of attaining. Steer clear of negative environments and think positively. If you slip up, don’t give in – put it behind you and start again with a clean slate.

If you are struggling to overcome your past failures try some Bach Original Flower Essence Chestnut Bud* to help you learn from your mistakes and keep yourself on track.
